Who would think in California a civil war uniform button would be found but this last Monday I did find one AVC eagle button ca 1860 on a street corner in an old section of Madera California  it's bent but all there from the Horstman co . That came a long way to end up in it's final resting place and can you imagine the story it could tell!

   Actually, it really isn't that surprising even if it does happen less often than it would east of the Mississippi.
   The Yankees that took on the Confederates in Arizona, and then stayed were from from California.   Remember the California Gold Rush was before the civil war.  The buttons are civil war era buttons that would have been worn anywhere in the country by federal troops during the time period......but a picture sure would be nice.
