Go Up Go Down

Hi everyone, I'm new here, but have a question.  Has anyone detected around long lost towns and if so was there anything left to find.  The town I would like to find was established in 1872, Twelve businesses and dwelling houses were built there.  Due to dissensions among the people in the town, it died, the buildings were moved to neighboring farms.  Last last building left in the town was the hotel which was also moved in 1882.  Just wondering if this would be a worthwhile project to pursue.  The place is only about 30 miles from where I live and I have friends that live within 4 or 5 miles of the townsite.  It's cold here, snow is on the ground and all I can do right now is research. Any advise is appreciated.   rbnks.

Welcome  from Kansas! Old towns are great for hunting! Be sure to post in the Introductions in order to get a proper 'howdy'.

Heck, ain't no telling what you're going to find in "lost" towns.   Not sure where you're at, but out here, we find all kinds of small metal trash----but we also find coins, jewelry, tokens, bottles, tools, toys, etc. etc.

"ghost town" hunting is a facet of the hobby that many people who have the opportunity to enjoy find incredibly satisfying...The ghost town that you speak of would be a great place for relics and coins (i'm talking gold coins) plus unless it's now a park or something you won'thave a bunch of modern day trash in the ground....good luck!!!!

It's a no Brianer mate, go there and detect the place but do it in a systematic way and if at all possible take a GPS with to mark places on a map (Find's, ex) and also to see where you have missed a spot
