Hi T-O-M.
I always carry become very diligent when finding Ammo, even 1812 stuff and yes I did read about the fella who blew himself up, he was drilling a hole in shell from the civil war...........when I disarm ammo I drill the hole while the item is "under water" = no heat generation = a better outcome,
Better yet dont mess with it.......HH.....Johnnn

Xavier,
I never argue with that statement and these old munitions are still quite deadly, but dilligence and their construction is a minimum requirement or as I said "don't mess with them"if your the nervous type...HH  Johnnn Devil

Nervous or not I say DONT EVER MESS with them I have had enough experience with explosives to know and to stress out to everyone never MESS with that stuff no mater how old it is.
Please trust me on this one guys leave them to the experts and even they get blown up from time to time.

Happy New Year

Xavier

I'm with Xavier on this one.....as a matter of fact, I don't even think I'd let my brother (a former EOD man) mess with a lot of this stuff.
