Go Up Go Down

Hello,
Recently I went to a jewelry store to sell some gold items. One item was a gold band, (made from Blackhills gold) that I purchased about 25 years ago, never worn. Value about $300. I was offered $8. melt value ! I just cannot believe that a jeweler would melt such an item.
Any comments ?

Thanks,
GCM

Most jewelers want sell used jewelery and even tho you never wore it its still used in their eyes. If your intent on selling it try a jeweler at a flea market.

In adding to my comment. This ring is a 14K. I believe it weighed about 8 grams.
I understand that I will not get anywhere near the face value, but $8. seems like a ripoff to me.

Thanks for your reply !

Same story, different ring, I have a 2 gram 10k ring, again Blackhills gold, but the ring also has a little over 0.5k diamond on it, very clear, quality diamond. Tried to sell it at few places but most of them do not buy diamonds less than 1k, so there was this one guy offering me $200! Isn't that too low?

Look around and your going to find Diamonds are a False Economy.  Worth Little to Nothing.

After the Initial sale there just a Rock.

Try Selling a Used Diamond any place.

Your best hope would be to try and sell it as a Ring.
