I was out in this over grown field where no has lived.  There was a home about 100 yards over, but no other homes in this area close into town.  I think there used to be horse back riding in this area about 15 years ago.  Biggest ring I've found so far. Mex silver 925 with onyx

When I said there was a home about 100 yards over, what I meant was it's been gone for a long time.  A little bit of the foundation still remains and there's a couple of apple trees.  Apple and fruit trees are a good give-away to past life in an area.

Here's the area on Google map (view in satellite view) :

I found this almost in the middle.  I like to use

.  And if you were to look at the above area back in 1928 there were about 15 different land owners with parcels.  And there was a couple of roads at one time in there.  There's still a little bridge across a stream.

Just south of the railroad tracks there another grove of trees right across from the big park.  There's evidence in there of a drive way, an address place holder and 2 really decayed bridges.  There's a lot of trash in there.  I think they bulldozed any houses under cause I found strange broken metal pieces and old carpet buried in there.  I'm going to go back when I get my AT Pro.

Well, it's funny how places way back when were more popular and populated than today in many cases.  300,000 covered wagons went along the Oregon Trail through Oregon.  From Eagle Creek, Oregon to Oregon City, there's almost no trace of the wagon train path.  It's a shame that so many people between those two towns probably have so much history buried on their land and don't know it.

There's treasure almost everywhere.

By looking at the map it seems that you found it in a Chicagoland area. Thanks for the historical map link. I use historicaerials.com which go back to 1938. Love the look of your ring and the site you found it looks spectacular too.  Clapp
