Toothpicks? How about a pirate rhyme?

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck.... you can make your own tooth picks?

goldigger

The real question is, do teeth really play the banjo?

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Yes, in certain unusual circumstances. There may be drinking involved. Coffee

I enjoyed the translation too, String.  I remember hearing that "Ring Around the Rosy" was about the Black Plaque, so I kind of figured that a lot of those apparently nonsensical nursery rhymes had some kind of meaning, but who would've guessed they were for recruiting pirates!   Fight  I love it!

You could just tell them you were trading for a cell phone   Shocked  Cool

Back to the topic...
Why do people just keep using these nursery rhymes when they teach in school that the "rhymes" had ulterior motives? We just keep singing and reciting them to our kids and grandkids but if they were able to understand the lyrics they would raise up in their cribs and say, "WHAT?  Shocked Huh?".

Whaaaa....? You must be a liberal.  Shocked

This may be some what true, but do they really care? Mostly they just want to hear the care-givers mouth flap!

In my experience, as a parent, I was never too occupied with nursery rhymes other than *this little pig went to.... * It always got a giggle and it was one they always asked for. The others, like Baa Baa Black Sheep... are more like reading exercises for beginning readers. At least that is when I encountered them, when I was learning to read. The King of the Golden River is one that could be serialized on the forum.... it is about a hunt for gold! But I have not seen a copy since I was about 8.  Shocked

My kids never needed nursery rhymes to make them any worse than they are!  Grin

Goldigger,
More specifically I was thinking about the songs we sing to our babies.... "Rockabye Baby", "Hush little baby", etc.

Plant slippery elms, so you cant climb them to install cradles and just plain do not let them get interested in pirate tales.
