I wonder which ship they intend to wreck. Any ideas? Anyone?

They're sure making a major deal out of that, aren't they?

I guess my point was too subtle, mate. Sorry about that.

A wreck isn't the same as a scuttled boat. A wreck happens in a far different manner than deliberately taking an old ship to a spot and sinking it. Even in San Diego, they have the presence of mind to refer to scuttled ships as artificial reefs rather than wrecks.

Yeah, and even if the took her out and used her for target practice, it would still be questionable as to whether "wreck" would be a proper term for her (though I think it would be more applicable than the case in point)......Face it GD, it's another case of language changing and becoming less precise before our very eyes.

One of the dive charters here print up an ad to dive on the A & M Clipper wreck, A & M made them change it to artificial reefs.

well, as any good orange-blooded longhorn would tell you, that's just because all us A&M types are ultra-conservative reactionary types completely out of touch with the 21st century.   Wink   (glad my school still has the collective intestinal fortitude to do that)

Hello All

In regards to the ship being sunk on the south coast would be good for the local economy. Perhaps will attract dive tourists creating some much needed jobs in the region.

However in my part of the world is controlled by a small group of self centered fanatical green lobbyists and not in my back yard naysayers when anything is proposed to create extra employment in the region. They create a stink.

I am expecting the same small group of lobbyists will create another environment protest. Even though the vessel has been stripped and cleaned, much cleaner than a natural shipwreck they still say the wreck is environmentally unfriendly.

They will protest and protest to get their way and when they have won. They cheer and announce that they are saving the world. Get back in their gas guzzling SUV's and ride off into the sunset to their homes made from illegally logged rain Forrest timbers, feeling all good about themselves.

Common sense is out of fashion in my part of the world.

Hardluck.  Angry
