Hi,

Gold can corrode on the sea floor if the alloys in it are corrosive. High copper will corrode and high silver can cause some oxidation.

Pure gold...22K to 24K will come out of the water just like the day it went in.

..No, depending on the percent of impurities, in the processing of gold bearing ores, you separate out the impurities to to get the highest quality gold you can. High content gold,22-24crt., will not be affected by the sea.
   It is the impurities in the gold that change over time. If you process the lower grade gold, you can eliminate the impurities, and increase th crt value of the gold...capt. Tom
