Where on a scotch type marine boiler would you typically find the brass data tag?

Hello bell47

Depending on the age of Boiler make and model. But as a guess I would look to where or near the pressure release valve is.

Do you have an idea of the age of the shipwreck?

There are no valves on this boiler. they are pretty deteriorated. I'm guessing the wreck is late 1800's to 1900. That's why we're looking for a data tag to learn the age and possibly the name of the ship if we can trace it back to the builder.

Hello Bell47

Have you found any other items that might identify the vessel. Is there any copper sheathing?
