We use side-scan, sub-bottom, single and multi-beam for environmental mapping....

NEAT!
what do you guys use for contoll underwater~as far as mapping goes??

like,do you put a crows foot in a rock~or pound a pk nail into rock or something??

i mean for accuracy, gps would be off big time. would you take a shot from ship to known control point then transfer to known cp underwater??

thanx~jeff Grin

The Single and Multi-beam bathy mappers are fixed to the boat, so GPS and a Gyro compass OR RTK GPS makes it VERY accurate.  (cm's)
As far as side-scan and sub-bottom, in shallow water they are towed close to the boat, so you apply a correction from the boats GPS.  Pretty accurate, down to a few meters

AS far as side-scans, I'm a big fan of EdgeTech hardware and Chesapeake software, both easy to deal with companies.

Well.. I'll take you out in the middle of your favorite bay, cove, lake etc.. a few meters is pretty damn close... especially when you consider the efficiency of the systems (100m coverage per pass) and resolution (smaller than a milk crate)

Hi Rockhound,

Do your scanners work.............no matter what the geological conditions are, surrounding the proposed target search area!??

Regards crowsnest.

'Nest..
I don't quite understand your question?
Are you asking if they always are able to discern a wreck from bedrock, boulders or other 'Geology'?
