This is true as well. Don't get me wrong...I'm not saying that it should all go to a display or anything like that....If a person wants to do that then i guess that's great, if that is what the person wants to do. But, if a person were to salvage and sell some of it say for some new th gear or something then that would work quite nicely as well. Grin

I have a token that i found out metal detecting one day that I have been told dates anywhere from the 1870's up to the 1920's depending on who I've talked to. Can't find it in any token books. Even had one of the higher ups from a club called IKO TAMS get in contact with me when a token collector from Idaho found out i was trying to find information on it. I heard that he was working on an updated Ohio token book and when he contacted me he had offered to purchase it. I declined and stated that i was just looking for info on it. We traded some information and possible theory of origin or use and I went on my way to continue the search for information. Someone told me to check with the local historical society since the token seems to be somehow tied to the first sheriff of our county but informed me that they meaning the historical society would want me to donate it to them probably. So once again I declined to see and the search goes on in a sense.

The way I look at that one is I recovered it therefore until I see fit to no longer hold possession of it, it will remain mine.

The whole finders keepers bit. Grin

For all I know it could be the only one in existence anymore.

I have been asked to donate items..I only donate to one group as I am a member and I can see that nothing happens to the items...too much goes out the back doors these days!!
I have a couple of items from my collections in differant referance books..when I do this I get Credit and a few copy signed by the author.

Yes Dean the integrity of the site needs to be preserved, it isn't taking artifacts off the Titanic which is distroying it, just the salt water...

...so preserve what you can while there is still time.

Hi ya all, I agree with the, "you find it you keep it" philosophy! To the extent, if need be, sneaking it out, sell it in secret! Its all our fault that these laws get through.We, the people, must ban together, with a powerful coalition, that will really fight these laws. If every treasure hunter, in what ever capacity of th'ing they are in would donate to a treasure foundation, for the legal abolishment of unfair, anti- American, and most definitely;an unconstitutional betrayal of the American principal of free enterprise;we could defeat them!
All of us are responsible for losing these rights, to the corrupt gov. we have running things in this generation! I don't care if they are Reps. or Demcrts., they are all crooked. Any gov. that will violate their trust to Americans, in favor of any nation ,(Spain,as example), is treasonous to its people, and should be revolted against!. At this point in time, we can't do it with arms, but we can do it with money! We need a powerful lobby to gain back our rights;plain and simple!
Now, I know over time , the lobby will become crooked, but,install powerful,"Kick your ass out, regaurdless, policy ",and I think we could have a handle on that too!. This would put gov. on notice, that we, the Americans, who put you in, will quickly kick you out! if you go against, We, the people" the Americans!!!...Capt Tom

Hi this is Tom, what does all this ignore shit mean? Are we being denied something or what. I won't ignore any of them. If this in some way is supposed to shut us up, why do they even have a site. I am confused, would some one please explain??? Shocked
