Does anyone know if it is legal to use a small recreational dredge 3", just a small distance off shore near the beaches? I would like to use my dredge in the ocean in water less than 6 ft. deep, but not sure if this is legal.

My answer would be to contact the local authorities for the area you wish to dredge in.

Thank you,
I was thinking about the flats off of Key West. The water there is shallow enough to walk around and would be fairly easy to use my small dredge.

But I will follow your advice and check with the locals.

Thanks again.

I am not sure but I don't think there should be a problem.

Texas and Louisiana is OK in most places. But Florida is another story lots of that area is under lease to different treasure groups

I think Seldom is correct. You probly need a permit or something to get the green light.
Im interested to know how you go with it if you can get permission. good luck with it
