Hello All

Here is another story from the intrepid days of the 1930’s where treasure hunters search the world for lost treasure. An American adventurer by the name of G E Van Arsdale who was negotiating a land deal for a fishing base on a small sand island at the mouth of the greatest river in India the Granges in the Bay of Bengal.
And old man on the island claimed a ship called the Thunder was wrecked in a storm carrying over 1.5 million dollars’ worth of gold and silver nearly seventy years ago. The crew had died not with one of crew tell the islanders of the treasure.

Whatever the old man told Arsdale must have perked his interest as he discovered information himself that the SS Thunder had indeed been lost in 1863. Arsedale made a proposal to recover the treasure to the Bengal Government at the time. What become of his efforts is unknown as World war two most likely put pay to this enterprising Americans search?

Was there any truth to the story? Is there a fortune waiting to be found on a small sand island in the headwaters of the Ganges river in the Bay of Bengal?

HARDLUCK
