I watched a documentary on the History channel last night on the story of the USS Central America. They started with the initial finding of gold in California and traced its last journey from San Francisco to it final rest place in the Atlantic ocean. Very interesting. The technology they used to recover everything was amazing. Of course with the finding of a treasure this size- all the vultures came out of the woodwork. 39 separate groups laid claim to it and it took 10 years of legal wrangling before they finally won a 92% judgment. Estimated value of the finds so far is 100-150  million.According to their records- the another 15 tons of gold bullion still lies in the ocean and they are currently still seeking it.
