I posted in prospecting talk on the usgs river level site. I tried a search prior to posting but did not turn up the same thing. Even after posting it, doing a search of usgs newest post first or any combination I tried turned up the post. Is an indexing of the site needed before it turns up? The newest post I turn up is May 11, 2011.

Some times it wants a minimum of a 5 letter word.

Home it didn't say anything about 4 letters. And it did return a search result anyways. Just did not return the one I posted as a result. I tried a full forum search and even tried using advanced search then specifying the Prospecting Talk forum. Also it was a few different search parameters. usgs both cap and small letters. river level, and usgs river level. I just did a couple searches and found it seems to skip newer posts. For example "abandoned home" or "delaware" both show the newest some where around February. (And just in case someone wonders I did not use the "" 's) Rock Hound State Park  turns up but that was started last year.

Sorry about the problem but GD has notified the admin team so they can check into it.  There is a lot of work going on in the back room with programers and stuff so for now lets blame them. Lets give them a day or two and see what they come up with.

I definitely understand. I'm an admin/mod on another unrelated and smaller forum. I wonder what modifications were done around February/March.  Updates can get hairy.

Actually a few things. 1. was to try to keep from posting old news on the river level info. 2. recommendations for a metal detector for my grand daughter. I did find what I wanted, but noticed the dates were out on it also.

Side note I'm not sure if this is related, but the "related topics" below latest post is Feb. 25, 2011.  It may only look at topic words, but it seems like a common word searching might have a higher incidence.   

Doing just a topic search on "searching" has this "Please try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator. " but doing a full search it comes back okay. May be an indicator.

Can't help myself. It's the admin in me.  Grin
