Quarterking, I think you're on to something. I believe that there is a level of expertise where the machine/tool being used limits the ability of the person using it......BUT, I believe for all but the masters most people could squeeze a lot more performance out of their current machines if they took the time to actually master the machine rather than drooling over the bells and whistles on another machine. I know I've got a long way to go before I master my machine....so the only justification I have for getting another would be if I wanted to take it into the water (and there ain't much of that here in Arizona).
And just to head of arguments, I will freely admit that for some peculiar reason, certain people seem to do better with certain machines than they do with others...just as some craftsmen find that tools by one manufacturer fit their hand/needs better than the equivalent tool from another manufacturer and so they get better results immediately when they make the switch.
