On monday 8 november i took a look at Brighton beach on my works break, at the time it was blowing a right hoolly. I wanted to see what the weather was doing, when i got to the beach i saw that the shingle levels had dropped in some areas by upto 4 feet.
The only trouble was that i was working till midnight and had to work again the next day too, well it got the better of me so when i got home i set the alarm for 5am and by 6.30am i was on the beach setting the machine up.
I turned the G2 on and put the sens upto around 3 o'clock and discrim to 60 to knock out iron and some of the rubbish, i knew that some rings might have been lost too but wanted to learn the machine gradually.
After a while i reset the discrim to 58 where i left it for the rest of the search so i could find 5p coins and any gold rings that come up like them.
5p coins have a low tone and a iron buzz too because of the iron in them and i started to find a few, 1p and 2p coins are now also made the same way but are higher tone with the buzz.
The only coins not effected are the 10p 20p 50p ?1 ?2 coins that are still nickel or other non ferous metals , they are low for the 10 20 50 and high for the others.
Within an hour i was finding it easy to know what i was digging just by sound aloneand had a look at the waters edge to see if the sea made the machine unstable which it did not, though i did lower the sens to 10 o'clock for that but i think it work at a higher sens.
I noticed that at discim 60 , the pull tabs were giving a bad signal and the iron buzz too but if i wanted that i would lose the gold rings that come in that and below that number thats why i turned the sens to 58.
The G2 had very little trouble picking out the coins and also found very small junk targets too at around 5mm in size.
I have come to the belief that the G2 is a very good machine that i will use a lot of the time on land and at the beach, though it does not match the E.Trac or other top end machines it does give them a very serious run for there money and some of those machines cost two or three times as much.
I would rate this machine as good as a X.Terra 505 or 705 though without the extras and gizmos they have.
I will be back on the beach on thursday if possible for another try.
My finds for this search were 2 silver rings , ?26.17p in spending money , 3 coroded 1p coins , a coroded 20 euro cent , and a pier ride token. I left the beach at 10am after about 3 1/2 hours.
