I got me a 4000 for Christmas and I can't complain. I have been getting those deeper coins with the stock 8" coil. I can just imagine what you can get with the stock coil on the 8000.
I just ordered me a 10" coil for it and I can hardly wait to see what the difference will be.

I would really like to get the 5" coil next since I am having problems getting close to the tot lots supports.
I hope the weather springs up so you can go play in the dirt with your new machine.

Remember that the most important factor is the person behind the detector. Have a positive attitude towards it and it will do its job.

I notice you want to get close to supports and maybe even wire fences, years ago Garret and several other manfufacturers made what was known as co-axial coils which were specially designed for that purpose.

Unlike a normal coil a co-axial coil consists of three seperate coils placed one on top of the other I had an 8" one for my ADS many years ago and they did work.  One manufacturer even bought out a machine called the Wildfire I dont know who made it now.
It was like the garret coil designed to get to those hard to get at places like wire fences.

I dont know if coils like this are even made today but im sure there are some very smart guys on here that are capable of making them.
I thought I would throw this in out of interest in hope that it might help someone..  Get those brains working guys hehe do some research.   hope it helps regards alan

I have used those sniper coils that do make getting close to the metal supports easier to get to.
I have one for my other detectors, but since I just got the new one, I still have to save up some $ from my finds to get me a sniper coil.
