 Detecting

I'm thinking about making the trip south to Galveston
to try detecting there. A friend has mentioned knowing
the location of 3 Tree's(Huh?), and wants to take me there.
I'm new to detecting & live  up in NETex, so it's a do-able trip,
but I'm wondering if it's a real thing or just my friend pulling my leg.

I know the little ace 150 I have probably isn't the best machine,
the IRS say's i'll get a refund this year, so putting on my
Karnak the Magnificent Hat, I can forsee an ace 350 making
it's appearance in the near future.
would love to get an AT Pro, but that's twice what I can spend..

Sorry for the rambling, back to the subject..
Anyone have any suggestions for/information on the beaches there,
or possibly south of the island?
I'm thinking about down there the end of this month,
depending on the tides, daytime low tide a must.
old eyes, not much good for seeing at night.

Thanks in advance.
dave...

Seldom,
thanks for the information, I kind of figured my
friend was about 50% right, and 90% wrong...
I did read some of the posts and was curious
about current situation there.
I'll read more, do some more on line searching..
thanks..

sounds like I'd be in like minded company!

the thermometer is reading 15.8 F. here right now,
just came in from disconnecting the frozen up
drain line for the bath tub, noticed water on bathroom floor
seeping from under the tub, having to drip the faucets to keep
the lines from freezing. knew exactly what it was from
last years experience.. thought I had that problem solved.
Guess not.....
had some snow, ice, sleet today & now just cold,
probably be 10 above by sunrise...
