Hello Fellow Houstonians;

I am looking to find new places to hunt.  I am located in Katy Texas and would like to learn all I can about the area, especially the Brazos River area.  If you are knowledgable and would like to trade information, please post here.

I have been studying the area on the south Brazos for quite a while and would really enjoy hearing any information any of you might have about where best to treasure hunt for relics and coin shoot 1800 era neumismatics.

Lets talk.   Detecting

Ahoy Christian,

I am glad to hear that Texas is represented.  I hope that I can get in touch with some folks that enjoy hunting as much as I do.

Have a great day!!

Dan

Seldom To The Rescue  Rider

You are awesome.  Very few folks i've run across are as friendly and willing to help others as YOU and other folks on this board.  If you could post a Katy Tale  Pray that would be excellent!!

If I can ever return the favor, you know where to go.  Wink

Have a good one.

USMC rules.  Thanks for the welcome.  I will post photos and stories as soon as I get them.  I found a piece of brick that came from the original bricks that Stephen F. Austin built his cabin fireplace with.  I matched it up with the "Original Brick Fireplace" that can still be found at the old townsite of San Felipe De Austin, its now a small state park.

This hobby is awesome!

Regards,

Texas Cache

Only thing I got is a note several years old. A old guy named Walker lived between Sealy and Katy around 1458 in the 1920's had made a lot of money bootlegging. Had it hid on his farm. That's all I got never researched it. Might be worth a little liberty time. If I found anything else will post.

I've heard of lots of arrow heads being found along the banks of the Brazos south of you. At one time, the Corps of Engineers had planned to make the Brazos a shipping lane up to Waco. In Brazos and Robertson counties, you can still see the old locks in the river. Port Sullivan, was also Fort Sullivan, still has remnants on the banks in Robertson county.   If there are any old old roadways in your area, that are not part of a highway, check downstream from these crossings. In Brazos county, a ferryman would change the price for crossing, in the middle of the river. If you didn't pay the higher price, you and your belongings went into the river.  Best of luck,

Bill
