I have recently moved to north Texas and see a lot of abandoned old farm houses while on back roads.  How do I find out who owns these properties and ask for permission to metal detect?

The county tax office can help you find the owners name. If you have an address you may be-able to access the info online. As for permission it will depend on the owners.
