Go Up Go Down

I just ordered a Garret so the waiting begins.  I am wanting to have something to do while I wait and I thought I'd get a test garden ready to practice with.  I've gotten some great ideas from you all about how to do it but wondered what you use for GOLD!  I can handle silver and the coins etc. but it seems nothing else but gold will do for gold.  Can I get away with using something small.... I'm just not sure what to do here.  I'm sure my wife had some gold jewelry but I'm not sure I want to go there at this point in my new hobby!  I'm sure you guys have some trick up your sleeves.. let's hear 'em..

mark your test garden with golf tee's insert them right above your coin etc .,,,,This will help not to lose your target's and help  you to understand how your machine act's and find your target's and Pinpointing

Thanks Outback;
I was even going to do each coin twice; one on edge and the other flat.  But what about the gold?

lay one flat ,,use a ring if you have it ,,,,just mark it with the golf tee you will not lose it that way  ....I have done it this way and have not lost any ring's just take the time to mark your area      ,,,,,find bright tee's like pink ,orange etc stay away from green and white ,,,Try to also use  a nickel and pull tab and then a ring ,,

Great tip on using the golf tees. I helped a buddy put in a test garden a few years ago. Our notes and memory are both gone. The what and where doesn't mean as much if you have to guess what the targets are or how they are laid out.  Smiley

Gold is infact rther difficult to located with many machines. Hence you should not try to replace it but only use gold for testing purposes. A small gold ring should do fine. These are infact rather hard to pick up so you might want to practice picking them up so you won't miss them when swinging over one Smiley

Regards,

Christian
