Go Up Go Down

Best weather of the year today Grin
Went back to my little spot, hoping to find at least a silver dime or two (NOT! Angry) but did get 9 wheaties in the 50's, 1939 Canadian penny, BUNCH of pre 83 copper pennies mostly 60's & 70's and some garbage zinc pennies that I should have just left there with the 2 dozen or so others that I lined up on a rock. 14 dimes, 5 nickels and NO QUARTERS Shocked
Now do you see why I call it a wishing well?
About another 2-3 hrs work and I'll give up the location so someone with an ittybitty coil can see if they can find a silver dime or two. Wink
Anyone like to try a guess on my spot?
Clues:in a Seattle area Park...confined to an area the size of an SUV...is no longer what it was...dated 1934

I just can't stop Detecting

Nice collection of coins hector  Clapp Finding a penny is'nt near as much fun as finding  a pocket full. Are those on the far right all stuck together?

From top left:
5 nickels, 14 dimes, 82 copper pennies, pile of junk zinc pennies (not worth splaying out),
(lower left) 1939 Canadian penny, 9 wheat back pennies.
The last time I spent the day at that park, I racked my brain all day trying to think back as far as I could remember for a spot that might bring some silver coinage, (I found a 1941 Merc dime earlier that day) when at the end of my hunt, it hit me to try this spot.
I absolutely KNEW that if someone else hadn't hit it, there would be a high coin/trash ratio. Found 4-5 fishing weights, 3 pull tabs, 2 bottle caps.
It amazed me that in all these years, nobody else has detected this area, although the lack of silver may be due to it's ability to stay visible for much longer than copper, so someone probably did a visual on it a very long time ago and scored the easy pickings.
Another thing that this unique area taught me was how much the signal can change with coin groups Shocked
I think back to hits I've had in the past, that I thought were aluminum cans, that could have been a coin group, and I should have taken the time to dig but sometimes you can only take so much hacking through roots and rocks to find another old beer or pop can. Angry
Another thing that I've learned to do with the modded Cibola is switch back and forth between disc and all metal to get a much better "picture" of what I'm hitting Wink
Since I started using this method, my pre dig calls have been very accurate and I don't think I'll miss any more coin group/spills! Wise

I swear by my 4 incher.  I have been keeping an eye out for little spots of grass or even gravel in my home town that date back to the silver coin days.  A normal coil would just freak out in those spots.  That little coil is a godsend.

You might as well keep those pennies I use to drop a penny and leave it now I'm digging holes to find them
