Go Up Go Down

Tried to post this before but forgot to resize the image.
Anyway after around 3 hours I ended up with this little cow (I think) 60 cents in clad and a whole baggie full of bottlecaps and pull tabs. After I got home I went to the bank with my wife, when I decided to check the customer coin counter's reject bin. JACKPOT! I pulled out 8 Kennedy 40% silvers-6 dated 1967, and a 1968D and 1969D. Four silver quarters 1943,1944. 1954D. and a 1964. Lastly there were four silver dimes 1946, 1957, 1963D and 1964D.Someone didn't know what they had. Depending on the melt value there worth a lot more than $3.40

Yep. Some were in the bin and the rest were stuck at the end of the tube. I think the machine goes by weight. Silver coins are a little heavier than clad, so the machine boots them as foreign coins. By the way I forgot to add a 5 Franc piece that was also in the mix.
I have found a few coins in these machines before, but never such a hoard as this time

Congrats, I too had a good experience but not as good as you hit!
My experience was no silver but a whole lot of quarters that I did not
have in my Lincoln cent bucket plus a small 10K gold eagle charm.

Wait a second. Say that again. You can actually go to a bank and take those rejected coins? I did not know that?

No ones stopped me yet. It's there for public use. When you put your change in to be counted the machine tells you to check the reject bin. So what's the difference if I put in my own coins to be counted check the bin and find these coins, or just check it occasionally.

I don't see it as any different than checking the CoinStar machines in the grocery store---and you can bet I check those every time I go by one.

Congrats on hitting the jackpot.

Recently here at the auto check out line in the local supermarket someone accidentally put twenties in the ones stacker. People quickly learned to buy some gum and insert a $5 and the machine was giving change and instead of 4 ones gave 4 twenties!!! The employee got a day off. They lost over $700.
Our bank is too cheap to have change machines....If they need coins they will count for you, otherwise you have to write your account number, name address and phone number on each roll. What a crock Some grocery stores have machines but they either charge commission or only give out merchant cards like Best Buys etc.

You "done good"   Smiley
