After a busy day I went back to the old carnival grounds again for about an hour. To my surprise I find more silver:    2 Quarters 1951 & 1945..Like that shiney stuff! I also
found  a 1943 P nickel, 1952D penny 1950D penny 1934 penny..Also I found a waterbury
co..Fireman's button.. Got my usual haul of light bulb parts, scrap copper and beer cans.
I really felt bad because I didn't find a pulltab..Better than yesterday.....John in Va

Hi Treasuremomo......Yes Virginia does have a lot of silver. The area I live in is the Northern Neck of Va out towards the Chesapeake Bay. Theirs a lot of history here and some of the first areas to be settled were by europeans etc.. I have found coins dating back to the 1700s on old plantation sites. Civil war activity in Va was enormous in  some parts. You can make good finds if you do some research. Have a good day..John

Hello Johnlaw, I was wondering what you have to do to get permission to go places
like the old school grounds or a farmers field and such?? I live is Suffolk where there was
a lot of fighting going on (still is sometimes hehehe). I wanna find stuff Shocked  Detecting .
EmilyR

BTW  it is getting kinda flooded over here ...how is it doing on the Northern Neck? And with
the waves whipping up like they are, would it be good to go out to say Va.Beach after
this storm???

Hi Emily.........You can call me John. Yes it would be a good idea to head to beach when the storm stops, I'm thinking about doing the same thing. As for getting permission to go on old school grounds you could approach a board member or if the place is in the hands of the YMCA they have board members as well. Farmers are a different story, you might want to find someone who is friends with a particular farmer first and have that friend introduce you to them. Most of the time they don't mind if you are a county resident and of good reputation. I also tell them that if I find a large treasure catche I will split it with them. Also tell them that you won't go in areas where crops are growing and that you cover all holes etc.. It's windy and rainy here in the Northern Neck, probably will be a few days before I can go on any farm land to hunt. If I feel good I'll be heading to the beach areas. If you have any questions you don't want to put on the forum you can email me. I hope you have a good hunt............John in Va.
