Was out at a popular, busy park yesterday to see if there was any recently lost jewelry. Being quite sure it has been one of the more heavily detected parks around, I didn't expect any silver coins.
While covering ground, I detected the usual assortment of coins and pulltabs considered normal, although I was surprised to find a junk watch at about 3" that had been there at least a couple years.
Now the punch line... While
my way back to the car, I slowed down and spread out at the edge of the lot and started getting some strong hits (like a silver dollar) and dug 2 of them, only to find fresh, shiny beer cans, cut in half, smashed flat, and buried level at 6"
This was an obvious plant for a joke on detectorists and there were more that I didn't bother digging
.
Another odd thing was, earlier, a lady was walking her dog and made a detour to walk past me while digging and asked "loose change?" I said "yeah", she said "good" and walked away.
Anyone else ever found objects that were obvious "plants"?
Could this be something that another detectorist is doing to keep track of the competition?
Maybe I should be ADDING cans to the collection of "plants"?
Thought the 3 dimes designated for "Leo" was cute...Hey Leo, I have your $.30 if you want it...your name's on it
Sorry about the pic...just started using Paint, and I'm not too crazy about it at this point. Can't figure out why I had no trouble cropping the last pics but can't get it right now...oh well
