Go Up Go Down

Hi! This is my very first post.
I got a Famous Trails MD 7012 from Craigslist for $15.
The speaker was blown and 2 potentiometers were broken and the shield connection was intermittent.
Once I repaired everything, I was surprised how well it worked.
I've spent three days out in the yard of my very old house and have found all sorts of neat stuff, mostly nails.
A few pennies and quarters but no wheaties, silver or jewelry yet.
Anybody else have one of these detectors?
I'll put everything in a pile and post a pic.  Waveing

Cheesy MY FIRST SILVER TODAY!!!!! Cheesy
45 Merc and 45 nickel side by side out in front of my kitchen window!
I was about to quit for the day after cleaning out all the bottle caps, pull tabs and foil, etc.
Started looking deeper now that most of the junk is out of the yard. Detecting
Add the clad quarter and dime and that's about $5 back for 2 1/2 hrs of fun.
This is a big day for me marking my first silver X2!! at once!! Mad

Congratulations....more for stumbling on a key search tip as for the coins (which are truly impressive).   In older houses (i.e. ones where the windows actually open, below the kitchen window is usually a good place to look for lost coins.....as is under the clothesline (if you can figure out where it was) and both sides of the shortest path from the garage to any doors...and the strip of grass between the sidewalk and curb....and within rolling distance of any porch steps.

Thanks for the tips BA! Smiley
Now that I have the hang of going deeper, I want to compare my detector against a Whites CM 5900 that a friend has.
The grass is starting to grow and it's going to get harder as the days pass. Cry
I'm finding very small nails and staples so this thing has got some ability and I'm anxious to get more of a feel for it so I can start cranking up the discriminator dial.  Great/
