Go Up Go Down

Back to this area for the third time [detecting]CERTAIN that I would find at least ONE silver coin before giving up.
Once again, lot's of teaser dates but NO SILVER! No no!
Trying to be scientific and follow date trails to get to the silver coins but little luck Cry
Been putting up all my trash with my finds so the long timers Wise might be able to diagnose my methods.
This is the best overall area that I've found yet for producing lots of coins with earlier dates.
If this area has been detected, it was with one that only went 2-3" as I'm not finding many newer coins and most of them are beyond 4".
Any tips from the long timers here...success formulas?

That 66 quarter is getting close.  Lookin like that site just ain't old enough to me.

Do you have any way to date the site?

From the coins and trash looks like the site is  A. not very old or B. a site that was hunted heavily back in the early 1970's. leaving little early stuff for you to find.
Why do you think the site is old?

For find coins on the surface you need to turn your gain/sensitivity down, and if you want to find
deeper things try a larger coil and turn the gain up high and hold the coil a few inches off the ground and that will help you
find the deep stuff and ignor the surface stuff, Ihope this helps

:oWOW Shocked Thanks guys! Lightning fast response!!
I typed a response and it got lost Angry...didn't do something right after it told me there has been another post since I started mine???...then my brother called...
Anyway...This area has been in heavy seasonal use since 1950.
SOOO many acres to cover...must be some untouched...
The pennies that I've found here are dating back to early 50's and some 65 & 66 quarters.
This is the same area that I found the small silver ring and started dating my posted coins.
Were there detectors back then that could skip over pennies and trash and suck up all the silver??
I WANT ONE!!!

Another thing that could dictate the coins you are finding is that the soil may have been top dressed,
As in they could of put some top soil all over the ground to repair and level the place due to it being
a popular place so alot of stuff could be covered up

A top dressing are loads of full dirt was my next suggestion also good call AU.

You also have to consider what the place was/is used for. If it was a carnival grounds, flea market,or circus area then you can expected to find coins when money changes hands some will get dropped. If it was a picnic area for family reunions or church socials then people not going in and out of their pocket not going to drop much but thats when you may find pocket spills which are always nice.
Can you tell us what the place is used for and how many days a year?

Added layer makes sense. (find high slopes that may not have been covered?)
Public park 365.
Gets hit with 1000's every year for Seafair hydroplane races since 1950.
Park is much older than 1950.
Only a small section of the many parks and lakeside grassy areas that get packed with drunk Boxing wild people every summer for one crazy day Crazy
I've determined that the obvious, "front end" areas have been heavily detected but this area seems relatively untouched.
Finding anything around the Seattle area more than around 1900 is not too likely.

Under Tree's and along the Waters edge.   That's were they would have been.

If that site was there before 1964 and used, there's probably silver left and it may be a little deeper(6-10")just keep on hunting that place....Good Luck.....DW
