Interesting find. It looks like possibly an anchor on the front. I'm curous, How did you clean it up? It came out brighter than you would expect from brass. gambol

good call, gambol.   I was thinking a bell (as in liberty bell), but it could just as easily be an anchor --- and anchor buttons are much more common, especially when it comes to brass uniform buttons (or even civilian blazer buttons).

Thanks, when I found the button it was so corroded I didn't know what it was and was actually just going to throw it away.  So we made an electrolysis unit to clean it off and to our surprise you see the results.  By the way we never use electrolysis except on unidentifiable objects. Thanks again for the reply.
