10-17-10 Beautiful fall day , went to the site of an old grist mill . It has been hunted quite a few times but I was lucky enough to get some buttons , a lot of shotgun shell tops . Discovered why so many shell tops, when I stumbled over a couple of small buck skulls . Within a few hours I finally found my first decent find . A brass badge gilded in silver . Soaked it in lemon juice , I was ready to call it a day ,last dig of the day was the only coin this weekend .... a very nice condition, actually one of the best I ever dug , 1739 KG II , buried six inches in sugar sand . Hot peroxide bath , finished with with bees wax. A nice day out at the mill site ! I found a mill stone at a friends house , he found it , at this site , years ago . These granite stones were shipped over from France according to my old bud, John . Thanks for stopping to see my Oct. digs CMDdawg
