We have lots of snakes on the farm and now is about the time of year that they come out so I'll be getting a pair of new boots soon not that it's the best protection but it helps. That Grizzly man is the dead proof not to mess about with bears and my theory is if you respect nature it will respect you.

Antony have you been out detecting lately? I'm itching to go out but will have to wait a while longer till I get my new detector (VLF)  Cry as the PI just wont behave in the highly mineralized soil that we have here.

Please forgive me, I can not understand what you mean. Embarrassed About the VLF and mineralized soil, I realized ... Believe me it is all nonsense. I have a Garrett Ace 250. This is a great metal detector! The result depends on the location ...

Yes the Ace 250 is a good machine it is a VLF detector (Very low frequency) my PI (pulse induction) will not work where the soil is high in minerals this is why I'm waiting to get a VLF detector

I was under the impression that PI was the technology of choice in Australia because of its immunity to high levels of iron and salts. What is in your soils that upset the PI?

Iron lots of it to the extend that if I drop a magnet on the ground it is full of iron. This is not a bought PI detector it's home brew so it could be that there is a problem with the coil yet I'm sure that I did it right (this is not the first coil that I build)

All the best

Grin Grin The investment would be too high for me mate not to mention that we only have 66 hectares of it so it would be short lived.
