Garrett made some SeaHunter-TR units that had discrimination back around early 1980's...I know a fellow who used one to find projectiles in river in a Civil War site. He was diving in water about fifteen or twenty feet deep and he said another fellow who dived on the site used a PI unit and didn't find nearly as many items as he did with his Garrett SeaHunter-TR. The reason was that the fellow using the pulse unit spent most of his time digging trash targets. The TR unit had a discriminator on it that allowed its owner to skip a lot of the small junk metal in the bottom of river.   I'd like to hear from folks who have used a SeaHunter-TR lately or in the past.

That kind of statement is nonsense. Digging every target also means he found great stuff that the VLF/TR unit would have left behind.

Don't be so obsessed with trash targets, mate. Dig them all and just be happy you are finding metal. I've used both and have put my VLF/TR unit in the closet as a backup.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

You are probably right GoldDigger, That's one thing pulse can do is have you digging some goodies the VLF-TR would have missed-ha! Great I know if you try to miss digging tabs ythen you'll miss recovering some gold items for sure.
