Still a good find, the one i found was on a gold necklace, you can see it on here if you go to the home page and look for Whites detector forum. Theres a pic there of some of my fresh water finds when i hunt the beach areas. Check it out....DW

The one farm is dated 1800's...the cornfield town, Beersheba, was started back in 1780's, It still has the cemetary, and the lots are still shaped the same. A large corn/bean field now....The buildings are gone, so finding things are a hit or miss.

Hi Sammy have you tried to Google Earth the site your working on sometimes you can fnd crop marks or other signs of buildings from a height.  Just a thought?  you might get lucky nothing ventured nothing gained good luck in that field and you are right everytime that field is plowed new finds come to the surface a well known fact  Smiley

HA, I just used GoogleEarth Thursday night, I went to historicmapworks.com and traced the layout on paper from 1875! Then google-earthed the current site, held up the tracing to the screen and plotted out the current land Grin

The only problem is that the map did not reveal the site of the first school on the land, which wasbuilt in 1801....only told the landowners name...which at the time he owned most of the field....Thanks - Great minds think alike!
