The first thing I found with my Tracker-IV in the backyard was an old floor heating grid that used to be on the dining room years ago prior to us moving in. It showed that the house went through several heating systems throughout its history. My house is an 89 yrs old, Chicago bungalow. I also found some other trash. I felt the same excitement you experienced for digging out those things. At least I discovered, I was up for the right hobby! Good job and if you upgrade you MD, always go over the backyard again. You may be surprised of what could await you deep down!  Great

I also use a BH detector and almost always set the disc a little over halfway.  This disc setting leaves out the first and lowest Iron targets such as nails.  It also allows me to listen for the lowest audio tone which is where I find nickel and small gold jewelery.

Although I mostly find trash when I dig targets id'ed as a "Niclel", I have found a 1906 Liberty V nickel along with a few newer ones.  I am still holding out for my first gold item.

My BH Pioneer 505 is one of my favorite detectors, but I miss the depth that I get with my Safari. Both are excellent coin/jewelry retrievers, and the 505 is very good at coin ID, but the Safari goes deeper even though its coin ID is not that great.  Detecting
