Its hot and dry here so been trying to water hunt at a local lake. Its tough getting a park to let you hunt just anywhere.
Got 3 nice gold rings in 2 weekends, several silvers, lots of clad, lures and junk of course

Excellent finds there! Very nice!

Since you find it is getting harder to get a park to "let you hunt," you should bag up the lures in clear plastic and show the park officials what you find in the swimming area. Impress upon them how important it is for you to remove them. I would bet the arguments vanish in a flash after that. Turn what you are doing into a public service and you may find yourself on a regular call list to inspect their site for dangerous objects.

Well  state parks are out. It would take a law change for that, and yes Im suprised that even some of the private parks say NO, I dig alot of Glass, in my scoop as well as jagged cans, and rusty iorn, youd think they would encourage it, a few gold and silver rings is a small price to pay for the amount of cleaning we do, especially in lakes where the stuff tends to stay where droped.

I even had a guy ask me if I was cleaning the swiming area.  I just laughed and said "yea you think so with this stuff" I was in a pretty trashy spot by the boat ramps.

Some good finds there! You could clean up those lures to give them a little sparkle and sharpen the hooks and put em back to use! A good spoon now a days will run you around $5-$10.

I guess these findes represent about 12 hrs looking and some camping expeses.  Was able to parlay it into a family camping outing though so nothing lost.
The diamond ring I checked out today, It is CZ,   I guess I got about 300.00 gold to sell now, in about 12 hrs hunting. (and some silver), maybe 20.00 in Clad.
That first gold Band was found in the first 2 minutes,  (figures  LOL)

Too bad about the problems finding a park. We perform such a valuable service digging up trash etc. A few poor MD'ers can spoil it for all.

Cheers,

Mike
