Go Up Go Down

Ok found a bunch of weird stuff today. Some type of token good for .10 worth of merchandise in Nebraska, some old buttons??? an old broken piece of casting of some sort but the weirdest piece was the metal rock. It looks like a rock, heart shaped from the right angle with a little stub attached to it but the thing is solid metal of some sort. I scratched it up a bit with my knife (%&^%$!!) thinking it was a rock and tryed to pry it out of what I thought was the way.. anyhow, any ideas as to what any of these things are? The rock is totally smooth on one side and rough on the other. Ok, let's see what ya'll come up with! :]
More pictures of the rock...

Hmmm...

I like them! Some very nice finds. One seems to be a general merchandise token. Ain't researched the Co. yet. Shouldn't be hard to identify. Now the rest, will take some time LOL

Hi Mc! I couldn't find anything on the token company. The rocks the one that really has my head spinning, found it on accident looking for my boys hotwheel that he dropped in the tall grass. Got a signal bout 4" down and couldn't control myself, had to dig it...I was supposed to be done for the day...LOL

Can't tell you anything about the heart shape blob of metal, but that token is interesting.  It looks like you may have a lead to a ghost town, or at least a "forgotten" place.   I was able to determine that Graf is/was in Johnson county which is in the extreme southeast corner of the state.   I don't find it listed in any of the listings of incorporated cities and villages for the Johnson County.   Supposedly it is near Tecumseh, which is the county seat.  National Geographic's Backroad Explorer shows that it was on the old railroad between Tecumseh and Johnson at around 40o 23.93" N latitude by 96o 4.93" W longitude.   That puts it a little be north of US 136 and west of Muddy Creek (the railroad crosses Muddy Creek a couple of times.  Graf would be west of the western most crossing).  It will be real close to the eastern border of Johnson county.

BA

By the way, I only found Graf at level 3 in the Back Roads Explorer.  It didn't show up in levels 1 and 2 or in 4 and 5.  If you're interested in exploring it, I think I'd look for maps between 1885 and 1960 or 1965.    I picked that date range because more checking indicates the old railroad bed was part of The Negraska City-Holdredge line:  http://www.casde.unl.edu/history/counties/johnson/tecumseh/

Hey sweeper nice token, I can't find much about it on the net and my token books are at the shop. If no ID by Wed will see if its in any books.
Looks like BA is on to something worth checking out.

Good Luck

Melted slag, metal dropped into dirt. I seem to find a lot of this in parts of Batsto park from the revolution. Smelting of iron ore  or the such. Maybe I'm wrong but it looks the same as the ones I pick up in the water or on the trails. Without a detector!

First piece appears to be mechanical. The right appears to be part of a bracket that holds a shaft. The curved left side appears to be where the shaft would set. and the top is broken away, which explains why it was thrown away
