From what I saw on another forum, they say it is usually backordered if you order on line for over a month and they recommend going in an actual store.

Sonya,

Congrats on your first find!  You will surely be hooked now!  Don't let the bugs stop you from hunting your targets cause you never know what it is till you dig it!

Here is a good Web site for identifying meteorites with some great photos and some tests you can do to test your find.

You can also purchase very powerful rare earth magnets at this place.

I have purchased several from them and use them every time I hunt for meteorites.  They sell very strong magnets of all sizes.  Post a photo of your suspected meteorite when you can.   Congrats!  Good hunting!

I use a Garrett Propointer and love. Yeah it is more expensive but will definitly out last the cheaper brands. I haven't been doing this too long but it was trully a worthwile addition. Don't let the price scare you. I've also read elswhere that people like so and so pointer and it goes 6+ inches....blah I don't want it to go that deep. The propointer will go about 3in. So if I get a 2in reading with my Ace 250 I pull out the propointer and scan to fing it without digging. If I can pick it up it's quick and easy. If I scan and it doesn't pick it up I know it is most likley a larger item but deeper...anyhow just my two wheaties....

For some odd reason, I often find the little red ants around the newer zinc pennies I find...wonder if they eat the them or something???...I just find it very strange...

HH,
