Congrats on that first gold ring. I'm sure it'll be the first of many. Sue

They are digging a new school in my town and the land has been a playing field for years and years. I detected the piles of dirt they excevated for the foundations and it was my 3rd find the first 2 being ringpulls lol. Yes i found it using my b2 thats the only machine i own but i would love a explorer 1 day! They have now fenced the building site off and theres a lovley big pile that looks sooo tempting but i dont think im gonna get a chance now they have fenced it off. I found a few modern coins and a 1908 edwardian half penny heres piccys but hard to get a good 1. I cant wait to find a roman coin next!!   Wink  Lee  Detecting

Do anyone think i would be able to ask the site manager or somone if i could carry on doing the dirt they are digging? Its happening so quick tho and that field must have tonnes of stuff in it! i would now have to climb onto the site!

Lee, I wouldn't rule out the gold ring as a wedding band for a woman with very small fingers.   If that penny is 23 mm in diameter, the ring looks to be about 15 mm.   That put's it in the size range for both my mother-in-law and her mother-in-law.   (for that matter, I have ring that used to belong to my paternal grandfather that is under 18 mm in diameter)

As for asking the site manager, I say go for it....the worst he can say is "no" and as long as you stay a safe distance from the active work, he might just say "yes"
