I am so excited!!! I went to Santa Fe College this afternoon to the additional parking on the north side of campus and found my first 1901 Indian Head Penny....  It was only 4 inchs down in the dirt!!! I also found 2 dimes 1974 & 1999, 1955 nickle and 18 pennies all clad..

The camera is dead right now, but I will go out and get some batt's later tonight to post a picture.

Today was a great day!!! I had to share with you all.

SharenH

Congrats, Sharen! Now that's starting your new year in style! Really encouraging, isn't it, to find an oldie. I liked seeing that you found the old nickel, too. Go girl! Sue

Sharen, thanks for sharing this as you did. I felt a real thrill from your words that brought back all the delights of finding my own first Indian.

Congratulations and best wishes for you to find another few dozen soon!

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Congrats on snagging yourself one of the tribe.  What a way to start the year off.  I can still remember my first Indian cent.  They are a blast to find.  Way to go! Clapp

Thank you everyone for the the words of encouragement and the knowledge I have gotten here from each of you.

I would not have gotten this far if I had not joined and learned so much from each of you.

Not only have I gotten the thrill to see whats out there, but I have gotten into the history of this planet again.  From the soil, to history, to other countries and finding out about old coins... I find myself getting thirsty for knowledge again.  Something I have put on the back burner in my age.

I hope to learn more and more.  You guys rock!

SharenH

I've got to add my congratulations to.   I know you worked for that coin.  Hopefully it will be the first of many indian heads you find.
