Go Up Go Down

This was in my junk finds today.
Too light and brittle for lead.
Was able to break it easily.
Nitric acid dissolves it quickly and turns dark yellow.
Soft like aluminum.(nitric acid won't touch aluminum)
Not magnetic...any ideas?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh? Shocked

Is it a copper jacketed carbon arc welding electrode?

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Photo colors are a bit funky.    Looks Brass/Copper sorta?   Is it spongy crystal make up?   Like a Cold Poor?

colors in photo are definitely problematic.....however, pot metal is also a possibility.

Sorry about the color. The only way I could keep the flash from washing out the shot, was to put my finger over it, causing the heavy red tone.
I've never known pot metal to look like this when broken.
The broken ends look almost like mica, and reflect a crystal type, grey or black mirror reflection.
The end that I ground on a fine stone looks like aluminum, but acts nothing like it when exposed to nitric acid.
Will try breaking it into more pieces, then I'll try and get some better shots in the sunlight through a magnifier.
