Go Up Go Down

From the land of the Bluenose.....they say war is hell but let me tell you life at the airport is no bed of roses when invaded by a horde of tired, angry passengers whose flight has been delayed.  Go slow and low and stay out of sight for you could be the next to encounter one of these nasties.

After a grueling night shift bed offered no relief.  Managed 4 hours sack time and the crows sounded reveille announcing it was time to go to war!  Would the rugrats attack by land, sea or air.  This grunt decided that the best course of action was a sneak and peak at a local playing field. Orders from the CP were to attack and withdraw by 1400 hrs to pick up the "general."  Not enough time.  Just not enough. Had to make do.  First encounter at 1435hrs was a Humvee that had seen the bad side of an IED ( improvised explosive devices).  Man the poor boogger in that vehicle had taken hell as the rear axle was completely obliterated and shrapnel had pockmarked the rest of the HV. (see after action photo)  DDed out of the killing field and went aquatic.

Rugrats and insurgents had the beach covered so my only escape was to go hard and deep.  Mission time was running out and I could feel my target was getting closer.  My weapon of mass detection was a non issue Seahunter mk11 with a full mag of Coppertops.  I swung to the left.....target acquired.  Feinted further left and got another hostile under my coil.   Holy God the heat was on me as I took out an undercover operative of the "Big Guy" (see after action photo of cross) not a real one but an irregular made of white metal.  The enemy was within shouting distance as I was in the "sh$t" up to my neck. No backup. No relief but I didn't panic and went deeper so that only my nose was above water.  It was here that I knocked down my first VC 925 "O" but one of a lower rank.  I could smell fear.

A retreat signal was given by the leaders of the rugrats to withdraw to a safer area out of my range.  Then it hit me like no tomorrow and I had the big 925 "O" pinpointed. What a rush.

Headed pack to the LZ and bagged and tagged the take for the day but the general was not happy.......I was late!

Damage to the opposition was 2 -925 "O", one vehicle, cross, chain (not sure what it is) and 38 captured at a cost of $9.86 which will be added to the mess fund.

Off to the mess for a few brew.   Must remeber to put my challenge token I got from a Yank Wave Ranger in my pocket so I don't have to buy the first round!
