May 2011
My finds after a week on Panama City beach, Florida.
1 > 2 cent euro
$6.79 in coins
Silver ear ring
Sterling silver cross necklace
1 silver men’s band ring
2 diamond rings (now my wifes)
1 small purse with $52.00 inside + ID: of owner. (returned)
It cost me $5.02 to mail purse and contents of $52.00 to owner yesterday.
So returning purse mailing cost $5.02. My wife took the two diamond rings she said she liked them and where now hers. Hmmm……
I got the rest how did that workout?
Oh well I had fun for a week. I did get to keep $1.77 in change that was left after postage paid for mailing back the purse. The silver men's band ring and the cross necklace I also got to keep. So I did not come out empty handed.
So my wife is happy. Plus one small child’s Birthday cash earnings that where lost ($52) from gift cards where returned, after being lost in the sand for 3 years.
That was a good trip don’t you think?
I used my Ace 250 in the dry sand and wet sand also, and light surf that week. I was able to find items as deep as 16 inch’s in dry sand.
If I got a weak signal detecting, but to faint to locate properly? I could swing faster to go deeper for a stronger signal. Then sweep 3 different directions to triangulate location. Helped to pull finds others where missing. There where several people metal detecting the same beach area. One fellow was also using the Ace 250. Most complained the beach was already picked clean. But the beach was really sanded in, because they have had a drought there. So I opted to go as deep as possible and hunted much slower. There where targets every where. Slow and patience and a different tactic, I think made the difference.
