Go Up Go Down

Well the weather and my calendar finally coordinated so that I could get out for a few hours before I watch the CFL labour day game between the Eskimoes and Stampeders.

I took all the advice I have been given and my new pointer and set out to do a patch of sand around the swing set. All the tips and the pointer paid off as I was digging targets all over the place, however, nothing good.  I did manage to pull out quite a few small pieces of metal and a thumb tack, so no kids will step on those now.

In the end, I got a nickle and 3 pennies, only 1 beer cap, a pile of foil, pink button and lots of tiny metal bits to go with a link of chain.

Great outing it looks like, CCS!  That is exactly how you eventually start finding the super finds, just like you did the good ones here today.  Way to go and congratulations!                Detecting

Nice finds plus a Big Attaboy for bringing the trash home with you! I always feel a sense of satisfaction leaving a place cleaner than when I found it. AND that aluminum adds up too. $$$.

Thanks Guys.  Poptop, we must have different recycling rules in my province than you do in your state.  The only aluminum I recycle are the cans, we get 10 cents a can.  It's really most bottles or containers 1L or less is 10 cents, over 1 L it's 25 cents.

Yeah, Ks has not bought into the punitive route to keep the cans out of the ditches. Still in the dark ages I guess, that's why I live here. You are being paid a refund rather than scrap aluminum prices. Someone paid that dime through the grocer as a fee to assure that it will wind up back in the system. See some of the discussions we have had here about can smuggling. We have scrap mongers here, there is a price for unprepared "dirty" scrap, prepared "clean" scrap and one for cans. It is assumed that the cans are relatively clean, i.e. I rip open any silted cans, always bang out all the dirt sticking to them and usually hose them down. I present them in sack and get $.65 to $.85 a pound, depending on the spot price on the day.

Yeah, we pay deposits on damn near everything...and they still charge us an environmental fee on top of it.   Before they changed the prices a few years back, we used to buy pop that was distributed in bottles that were similar to beer bottles.  since they had two different deposit amounts, we would slip the pop bottles into the beer cases and get a better deposit return.   Wasn't a big profit return, but I never understood why beer had one deposit value and pop another, when both were the same bottle.

I should look into scrap prices here in town, pretty sure we have a have a few metal waste companies in the city I work in.   Do you recycle all metals then or just aluminum?

I take all metal in, but it takes a lot of accumulation for steel and iron. I don't recommend it, it makes home look pretty trashy. I am Hoping to Change my ways. heh.

Ok my friend you are definitely doing much better. It is a matter of getting used to the different signals you receive from the 505. Eventually, you will become much better at ID coins with it. BH 505s love coins and silver  Kiss

BH 505s love coins and silver

I can't wait to pull out the first Silver or Gold Smiley   Gonna take me a number of strikes to get used to the different sounds though.   Some of those tiny pieces of metal came up as quarters, and the nickle came up as foil I think.

I have to say I was quite impressed with how good it was able to detect some of the small pieces of metal.  even when I had it in my hand with a bit of dirt, i still couldn't see it right away.   After my errands today, I think i'll spend an hour digging in the yard and see what comes up Smiley
