Hi

Well I did get out the other week . I was lucky enough to find this. Roman brooch 2nd
century. Quite good considering the spring, pin and catch plate are still attactched- normall the get a bit bashed about and lose the more fragile parts.

Allan

in that case, you may have some junk that I would be interested in taking off your hands  Smiley   But yes, it does look like junk and from a practical standpoint it probably is junk.  Some junk is just more valuable and/or interesting than other junk----that's why we call them "relics"

Thats right BitburgAggi even our junkyards will be a "goldmines" some day. I remember an archaeological excavation in a byzanthine toilet in Syria. g we found glass, jewels, coins and pottery. toilets were junkyards too in the past for small things. Or the things like coins or jewels just fell inside while sitting on it. So the roman broche is a very nice pice of yunk !!
