Go Up Go Down

just spent a hour+ searching a sand volley ball court...thought it would be a good place for coins or jewelry...not really.

dug 27 targets ended up with 9 cents and 2 dimes...the rest was nails, bolts and washers...also found a large chunk of steel(4" x 8").

getting ready for the Outer Banks next week...hoping to put in some serious time searching.

gotta disgree boys, found my first gold ring on a court.i've never walked away empty handed.there one court in my neighborhood where end of the season i'll walk away with over 10 bucks in quarters alone(i figure somebody has some kind of party for kids and throws a couple rolls in the sand for the kids to find).........now i'll share a secret for ya'll.if you have one outdoor bars that have a volleyball courts or horseshoes or bags, talk to the owner/manager and offer your services to clean up the place.drunk people love to lose jewlery and nothing better than the volleyball court.they'lll jump at the chance for free cleaning.............no place wants you to cut your foot open and possilby sue cause of a poptop in the sand Great....don't give up on the courts

Bomber, You go dude.
I personally don't give up on any of the Volleyball courts. Yeah you may not find anything "sometimes" but then jackpot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shocked
My wife wears a REALLY nice wedding ring I found in one. And over the years I have came out of that one in particular with gold rings, gold earrings, gold chains, gold pendants and lots of silver stuff mainly rings.
Yeah sometimes I only find 35 cents in clad or maybe a Hotwheels, lots of hotwheels, but I don't give up on it.
I never pass up the opportunity to hit the sandy lots......something hits the loose sand and it's gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Especially after I go through there. Detecting

Out4gold is right. Those are great spots to hunt.

Your problem may not be your logic at all. People do lose stuff there on a regular basis. What may be happening is that you are not the first to hunt it after a hot weekend. If you are the 3rd or 4th detectorist to hit that spot, you won't find much. I suggest that you get one of those LED headband lights and go out on Sunday just after dark. Be the first instead of the last.

Volleyball is an injury prone sport and many a finger has been sprained or broken during play. Most players take their rings and jewelry and put them in their pockets or along side the court so as not to lose them or get a ring jammed on behind a swollen finger. Coins and things leap from their pockets as they play the game where their focus is on the ball, not the loose coins.

i was not discouraged with the finds on the vb court...just a little disappointed..i will hit it several more times this summer(too close not to). enjoying my new hobby a great deal. i also check this site daily to check on "Today's Finds"...good knowing more people are out there in the hunt.

i will be needing a longer sand scoop...any suggestions?...the one I'm using is only knee high...a little rough on my back.

good hunting!

Volley ball courts are kind of IFFIE, I will hunt them any chance I git. It all depends now how much they are used and how offend they are hunted. Here in Houston I found a ring about 4 or 5 one I hunt.
