Go Up Go Down

Hello All,

The Mrs and I went north today with the rest of our club for our monthly club trip.   Pickings were rather slim (unless you were interested in adding to your collection of nails, cans, and sheet metal or liked picking up broken bottles).   So when I found the business end of a very old scalpel, I figured I had a good chance of getting a 'club hunt' prize during our meeting.    That is until I ran into one of the other members who proceeded to tell me about the trade token my wife found over by his truck 20 minutes earlier.    One of the other members called a few minutes ago---based on the last 2 editions of the Arizona token book, she's got a $200-$400 token on her hands (and possibly more since neither book had an exact match listed for hers--i.e. similar but different denomination)

BA

The same person who packs her detector, sets it up for her, and tunes it for her  Funny

I have to give a lot of credit, though, to some of the older (hard to conceive of) club members that have kept an eye on her when I've been over on the other side of the ridge doing my own thing.  (They're still trying to get her to pay attention to the digital read-out, but she KNOWS --- If it Beeps, Dig It )

A picture of the token would've been nice. Such an expensive token got to be rare indeed. Congrats to the student and the teacher Teach. So what did you do with the scalpel?  Grin

I'll try to talk her out of a picture.   I think she wants to contact "THE" expert of Arizona Trade tokens first.   As for the scalpel.....I still have it and I'm still planning on entering at the next club meeting...but I'll be shooting for 2nd or  3rd place instead of 1st.   (Of course that only means I'll have to go out a few more times on my own so I can out do her in one of the other categories).

Congrads to the mrs on the token she found there BA. Wish there was enough folks around here to start a club. 2 hour drive to the nearest group from here. Looking forward to that picture....

Nice BA! I'd have sympathy for ya but I know you aren't really that disappointed... Smiley

Happened to me last time too. A friend wanted to go out hunting with me so we went to a washed out gully and she says what are we wasting our time for here? Told her what to look for and dang if she didn't find a nice spear tip. She thought it was a much cooler place at that point  Grin

 Rider
Mrs BA heard back from the expert today, so she has given me permission to post the pictures.    The token is listed as PUN-685a inArizona Trade Tokens 2010 by Peter Spooner.   It has a listed rarity of 9 and a book value of $200 although the same type of token has sold for up to $350 on EBay.

Knowing the Mrs the way I do, I rather doubt she'll sell this item since it's her first "real" token (she doesn't count the Chuck E. Cheese token she found last year).

And you are right , Jones---I am much more proud than disappointed.  I know I'm a better researcher than she is, but once we get to the location all bets are off.   Besides, it gives me incentive to go out a few more times than usual so she won't be the only one in the family to score big this month.

BA
