Go Up Go Down

I went to a local park today for a few hours finding mostly pennies. Then I got a strong signal for a quater. I little digging about an inch down, and out pops a British penny (1967). With the Turkish Lira  I found last week and now this, maybe I should go to Europe. I also found a 1938 wheatie, which found a place in my coin album

Nice find!

You should definitely go to Europe but do your research as European countries have very different rules for metal detecting on public property compared to the good old US of A.  For example, metal detecting in Greece or Turkey will land you in jail!

But in Britain, responsible metal detecting is encouraged by that nations top archaeologists.

I was stationed in England, with the USAF, from 1996-2008 and an English friend got me started in this hobby.  My first find was a medieval buckle!  My wife is English so we go back on a regular basis and I'm taking my detector on our next trip.  There's so much amazing history to be brought back into the daylight!  Too bad that many governments are so paranoid.

Happy Hunting!

Contact Chevy Chase for advice on this one.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
