Borrowed a pioneer ex from a friend on our camping trip. I found a total of 3.19 in change, a bunch of fishing weights, a lure, a belt buckle and assorted trash. Suitably impressed with the capability of this lowly detector I purchased a used Lone Star on the way home. It seems to be a lot more sensitive in all metal so I am looking forward to some more finds. Best find so far a 1942d wheatie.

Thanks to one of our members, I have a Camo LS .

Needed some doctoring up.    Man I was impressed with what it could find.

It died again and waiting for parts but rest assured I'm going to put some time into it to make it work.

A gold ear ring backing in sand, 10" easy.

The On Off/Sense  Switch Pot on them is sorta cheaply made.

Do Not Bang it on anything.  It bends the Switch parts out of wack.

For the Price there one hell of a detector.

Thanks guys, I can see how easily it is to get addicted to metal detecting. Anybody used the lone star a lot? On all metal the detector will ping a shovel from 3 feet away but when I switch it to disc it seems to notch out a penny unless its less than 2" from the coil? I have the disc knob turned all the way down CCW but it doesnt seem to matter. I wasnt sure if this was normal, the Pioneer picks up pennies at 6" with disc on no problem. Still trying to learn this new one, I have to say though it kicks the crap out of the 1960's goldmaster. I really like having the multiple tones so I dont have to look at the screen everytime I get a hit. I talked with one of the locals at the beach who was pretty amazed at the coins I found, he was using a whites mxt and said the beach gets worked over every couple days by 4 local guys, and that most days he finds less than .50 in clad. @ homefire they may not be the toughest built but sure seem to work good for the amount of money they charge.

Caleb, I apologize for calling you Indy!  No no!   Don't know what happened there...  I think I had just read another post and got your names confused...   Crazy Wise !

Anyway, appears that 250 is definitely doing the job for you!     Detecting
