scexplorer,
Yes they are 9 ct rings. We don't really have 14ct in our country. It's either 9 or 18ct.
The 9ct rings usually have cubic in them and if you find an 18ct ring you can be pretty sure that any gems are real.
Well you seem to have hit that beach pretty hard, well done.

viking,

i thought the brittleness you mentioned would only be possible in a lower carat ring that may not have as much softness to the metal, but still very unusual.
we did hit the beach pretty hard the last 2 times out, but just a small area each of the 2 days. we'll systematically be hitting different areas of the beach between now and next summer. my guess is that any areas we can hit in the next week or two will produce some nice items and then there will probably be a change in the beaches for the worse for a little while. then we will find as the sands move in and out through the next six months.
i believe the erosion took so much sand off the beach right now, that the goods will be pushed in and out throughout the winter. happy hunting.
