Go Up Go Down

Well, I got bored of battling mosquitoes and ants in my back yard so I packed up my gear and headed to one of the local playgrounds.   Spent about 90 minutes digging in the sand chasing every beep I could and alternating between disc and all metal.

It was a successful learning day Teach cause I learned I need a lot more time with my machine to understand it Smiley  It's almost like a woman that way Smiley  If you have one setting off, it can go haywire Smiley Idiot

Spent the first 70 minutes or so with the sensitivity way too high and I think it was picking up junk metal from China...in China.   Once I turned it down to where I thought I had it  Idiot , it worked a lot better and the signals were much less eratic and it was easier to pinpoint the objects (big lesson learned, always double check the settings)

2nd lesson  Teach  Canadians coins show up as junk Smiley  And the metal tops of pudding snacks show up as great finds Smiley   I'm sure it had something to do with sensitivity....

So in the end, I found my first 0.46 cents, a few zipper and buttons parts and a whole lot more desire to finish searching that park with proper settings Smiley

Laughing  Nice analagy about my wife,

When I first started swingin, I got about the same results, granted that was 30 years ago and the Red Baron I used wasn't anything as good at todays modles.  Anyways back to the point, I ended up getting my cousin involved with my foreys into detecting and turns out he was much better at it.  He figured out right away that some targets (coins)sound slightly different than others (pull tabs).  Well needless to say, I was hooked and so was he.  I still couldn't find anything but he could, that was fine, we had many a fine excursion to the treasure fields. Great  He even found our first and only gold with that machine.  My point is that you don't want to give up, learn your machine and invite a friend to go along with.  This is an awesome hobby and can be enjoyed by all.

Happy Thunting.
